Building A Personal Brand

I’m a firm believer that your personal brand will outlive any professional brand that you build yourself or participate in building. When your startup fails, the brand dies. When you quit your job, your brand dies. But you and your personal brand remains. It’s about bringing who you are to what you do and how you do it. It’s about making your mark by being yourself, your best self. Think of your personal brand as your calling card, your unique promise of value. It’s what you’re known for and how people experience you.

A great example of a person with a really good personal brand is Neghar Fonooni. She is a fitness and lifestyle coach, writer, and yogi with a passion for food, movement, and mindful living. She has almost 58,000 fans on her Facebook page, which is pretty incredible. She has been up to some great things lately with a new product launch and more good things to come her way for sure. I love her website, the colours and the logo together with the “Eat, Life, Happy” brand really stands out. She is a perfect example of someone who has been able to express her full personality into her personal brand, just like the way it should be.

Building Personal Brand

Personal Brand :Your personal brand is how you appear to the world. Therefore, it serves to reason that a strong brand is preferable to one that is unpolished and uninteresting.

Once people know who you are and begin to identify you with a specific area of understanding or expertise, you’ll be well on your way to becoming the go-to person in your niche or industry.

There are 5 ways to go about building your personal Brand:

You have to Understand and be your authentic self: Your Brand should be a reflection of who you are Building a personal brand is first and foremost developing an understanding of your true self, and then sharing that with the world. Take your masks off and don’t be afraid of being venerable.

You should be speaking on a regular basis:  Naturally, this will mean developing your communication skills. If you speak in exactly the same manner others do, you will never stand out from the crowd.Show that you are confident. Some may criticize or disagree with you. The important thing is to remain open to feedback. Thank others for sharing their views, and if the points they raised were legitimate, determine how you can improve and do better next time

You should write through leadership articles and participate in interviews: Thought leadership articles and interviews establish your credibility. As with speaking engagements, landing the best opportunities takes time and effort, but if you remain open to what comes your way, pretty soon you’ll be showing up everywhere.

You will have to build your online presence:This is something you’re going to want to monitor on an ongoing basis, and improve upon whenever and wherever possible.Don’t forget to Google yourself regularly to see how you’re coming across, how others might be perceiving you, and what they’re saying about you. You’ll have a tough time building a great personal brand without making a real effort to monitor and tweak it.

Remain a student of your industry: No matter how well you know your industry or area of expertise, it would be wise to remember that things are changing at a faster rate than ever before, and you have to stay up-to-date with the latest changes and trends.don’t forget how important it is for you to have accomplished something yourself. You can’t talk about what you haven’t done, because that will take away from your personal brand. Be open about your shortcomings and weaknesses. This will make you all the more human and relatable.

Sign up and be inspired

As a sports management intern there are many different types of digital media. One of them being email. By having an email list it is a good way of updating and giving people information on certain topics.

For example I receive emails from many different travel websites and clothes websites as I have used their website before. This is a good way of updating their customers on special offers or deals that they have at the time. I find having an email very beneficial as I never miss out of the best offers.

When you sign up for an email list you often get information that  is useful to know about a certain product or service. Don’t miss out.

The Only Person you should be better than is the person you were yesterday.

I seen this interesting saying not so long ago, and it stuck in my head. Something we all have a bad habit of doing is trying to better ourselves, to make ourselves look better than other people. But why, everyone is different. We should try looking at ourselves not others and say, how am I going to better my life, make myself happier. Do it for ourselves not for other people.  Look are our own development in life before looking at our competitors. Jealousy is the main reason for why people try to better themselves. we were brought into this world as individuals with individual lives and that’s the way it should be. Better yourself for yourself not anyone else.
